Abortion Pill Smyrna GA

Abortion Pill Near Smyrna, GA

One of the two methods Feminist Women’s Health Center offers for an abortion is a surgical abortion and an abortion pill. When deciding about which method of abortion, our staff will help you decide which method is right for you based on varying factors such as term of pregnancy, financial situation, and pain tolerance. Both a surgical abortion and an abortion pill method are safe and effective for any patient.

First Trimester Abortion

If the method chosen is the abortion pill, the patient will be prescribed a combination of two drugs, mifepristone and misoprostol. Each drug of abortion pill contributes to a different part of the abortion. Mifepristone causes changes in the lining of the uterus and Misoprostol then causes the uterus to contract and expel the pregnancy. This option is available to clients who are in the first trimester of their pregnancy up to 11 weeks.

The abortion pill method requires two visits to Feminist Women’s Health Center. Approximately one week after taking the abortion pill, the patient returns to the clinic for a follow-up visit to make sure the pregnancy has successfully ended. The follow-up visit includes a sonogram, an important step in the process and may include additional lab work.

Side Effects of the Abortion Pill

Some side effects of the abortion pill may be like heavy period, such as cramping and bleeding. You may see blood clots and tissue that are expelled from the uterus after taking the abortion pill. This is an expected part of ending the pregnancy using the abortion pill. Common side effects of the abortion pill include nausea, abdominal pain, fatigue, fever, and dizziness. The doctor will provide prescriptions to manage any pain or nausea you may experience.
