ATLANTA – Feminist Center for Reproductive Liberation (formerly Feminist Women’s Health Center) is thrilled to announce a complete rebrand, marking a significant transformation and deepening of the organization’s mission. The 49-year-old Atlanta-based organization’s rebrand includes a new logo and name that underscores the organization’s continuing commitment to providing reproductive health care including abortion, educating communities, and building power for liberation.

In a society of intersecting and accelerating systemic oppressions, fighting for reproductive freedom is a revolutionary act of love, especially for Black folks, women, communities of color, LGBTQIA+ folks, and immigrants who bear the brunt of these harmful systems. But while defending communities against these threats is essential, it is just as important to articulate a clear vision for the future to guide our everyday work.

“When we were founded in 1976, our foremothers knew that legal protections alone would not guarantee reproductive freedom or access. They founded Feminist Center with the understanding that feminist approaches to care could tackle everyday barriers that existed even when Roe was the law. Today, we are facing familiar but unprecedented and amplified threats to our bodily autonomy. We still need feminist frameworks of care, advocacy, and organizing. And we also need a clear north star for a future that transcends the dangerous systems of oppression that we see so activated today. Reproductive liberation in the clinic, community, and capitol is our North Star,” declares Kwajelyn Jackson, Executive Director of Feminist Center for Reproductive Liberation.

As part of a larger strategy to fortify itself, the organization has consciously renamed itself the Feminist Center for Reproductive Liberation to establish an expansive, inclusive, and bold pathway into the future. It is also a declaration of the organization’s commitment to collaborating with all communities facing gender oppression, especially transgender, gender non-conforming, and gender-expansive communities of color. Beyond the rebrand, Feminist Center’s strategy includes expanding services into perinatal care, building the infrastructure to support community-led reproductive health research, and fortifying its community organizing work in times of increased political instability and violence.

Feminist Center’s rebrand marks a move away from reactive strategies and toward proactive action to make reproductive liberation a reality. Since the fall of Roe, revenue shortfalls from abortion bans have forced many clinics, including Feminist Center, into unsustainable and defensive cycles of crisis fundraising and organizing, diverting time and resources from advancing a long-term vision for liberation. Feminist Center’s strategy seeks to transcend this moment of crisis and usher in a new era of abundance.
