Postpartum Care

Postpartum refers to the period after childbirth. Most often, the postpartum period is the first six to eight weeks after delivery. At Feminist Center, we believe postpartum care should be compassionate and curated to the person. We are here to support those who are newly postpartum, nearing postpartum, or if you suspect that you may be experiencing symptoms relating to postpartum.

A person can go through significant changes in the postpartum period. A lot of them happen naturally due to hormone changes. Symptoms can be physical, emotional or a combination of both. Symptoms include but are not limited to:

  • Physical symptoms such as:
    • Breast engorgement and nipple pain
    • Vaginal discharge
    • Uterus involution
    • Sweating
    • Constipation
    • Soreness in the perineum
    • C-section recovery
    • Weight loss/gain
    • Hair loss
  • Emotional symptoms such as:
    • Depression
    • Anxiety

The Process—

We start with a wellness visit for the person who gave birth– reviewing medical history, goals of care, a physical exam (as needed) and discussing feasible options for treatment (if applicable).

Some of the additional forms of care we offer include: complimentary “new parent” care packages, convenient home visits, and tailored birth control.

Care isn’t one size fits all. We are committed to patient-centered care and are prepared to tailor your experience to meet your needs. Give us a call!
