Communications & Development Assistant

Overview

The Communications and Development Assistant provides permanent part-time support to
the development and communications (DevComms) department. The Assistant will work
closely with the department to complete campaigns and administrative tasks. The assistant
reports to the Director of Development and Communications and will work closely with our
Donor Relations Manager and Communications Manager on day-to-day tasks. This role is
hybrid, with most work being completed remotely and some on-site work required in our
Atlanta, Georgia office. The Assistant will work part time up to 29 hours/week and
compensation is $24.77/hour.

Development duties (40%)

  • Assists with major fundraising campaigns such as end-of-year donor mailings, major
    fundraiser coordination, and raffle application completion
  • Inputs donor gifts & updates donor profiles via EveryAction CRM
  • Conducts some donor outreach as needed


Communications duties (40%)

  • Schedules social media via hootsuite
  • Sends regular emails via EveryAction
  • Monitors marketing email
  • Sends organization-wide newsletter


Administrative duties (20%)

  • Coordinates meetings across departments stakeholders
  • Takes meeting notes
  • Inputs deadlines and tasks due via Asana
  • Update internal drive with relevant documents as needed


Required Skills
The Communications & Development Assistant must:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to abortion access, racial equity, and reproductive justice,
    and strong interest in furthering Feminist Center’s vision for the future
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Have strong interpersonal skills
  • Be a proficient typist – able to take dictations, and meeting notes
  • Be able to ask for support when needed
  • Be detail-oriented, an efficient multi-tasker, and an effective communicator
  • Be a Creative thinker who is open to learning and doing tasks in new and improved
    ways
  • Have experience creating boundaries around work and practiced in self-care
  • Understand the need for, and ability to work in, a sensitive and confidential manner.
  • Have familiarity with outlook email and calendar, Microsoft suite and google drive
  • Have the ability to learn new systems such as Canva, EveryAction, and task
    management software such as Asana
  • Have experience using social media, specifically Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.
  • Be comfortable with working in a multi-cultural, multi-racial, gender diverse, and
    intergenerational environment
  • Adhere to Feminist Center policies and procedures.


Preferred skills

  • Have experience with EveryAction, Asana, and/or Canva
  • Have experience in a past administrative role
  • Be a fast typist
  • Have reliable transportation
  • Speak a language other than English, particularly Spanish
  • Have professional experience working with the general public (call centers, customer
    service, community organizing, political campaign work, etc)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands,
and talk or listen. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, or move, and reach and
grip items relatively far away. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five [25] lbs.

Work Environment: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform
each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable adjustments may be made to enable

  • The location for this position is on-site in the clinic.
  • Must be able to participate in online virtual communications including email, video conferencing, and other online tools used to facilitate virtual office culture and work sharing.
  • Must be able to conduct business in English; however, fluency in languages other than English is a plus.
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and scanners. Employees are regularly required to communicate effectively via computer, via phone, and in person.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
