Post –Louisiana v. FDA decision, Feminist Center still provides medication abortion pill

Atlanta, Georgia – On Monday morning, the Supreme Court temporarily restored telehealth mail and pharmacy access to medication abortion pill mifepristone. The decision was in response to a Fifth Circuit Court order issued Friday, May 1st that immediately reinstated a nationwide requirement that patients fill their prescriptions in person at a health clinic.

The Supreme Court decision comes at a time when medication abortion by mail is on an upward swing, and many brick-and-mortar clinics are closing due to the enduring effect of abortion restrictions. Atlanta abortion provider Feminist Center for Reproductive Liberation remains open and is still offering compassionate abortion care, including in-person prescriptions for mifepristone.

Executive Director Kwajelyn Jackson says:

“Once again, our rights are in limbo, and once again the constant rollercoaster of court orders will cause confusion among everyday people just trying to get care. But make no mistake: abortion is still legal in Georgia. Feminist Center will continue to offer care, including prescribing mifepristone. And we will fill in any gaps that this judicial back-and-forth has manufactured.”

The Supreme Court is expected to make another decision on the matter in the next few weeks. Feminist Center for Reproductive Liberation’s scope of care includes surgical and medication abortion, and the most recent decision does not alter its options for care.
